Privacy Policy
This policy explains how CodeShare (Pastes), operated by Reversal, handles information when you visit the site, create an account, sign in with Google, or create and share pastes.
1. Who we are
CodeShare ("we", "us") operates the paste service at pastes.reversal.org, including public listings, private links, dashboards, and Google sign-in.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- Account data -- username, email, display name, password hash (email signup), and login timestamps.
- Authentication data -- identifiers and profile fields from Google when you sign in with SSO.
- Paste data -- titles, body text, language, visibility, and related metadata you submit.
- Usage and technical data -- IP address, browser type, and basic logs needed to secure and operate the service (including rate limits).
- Communications -- messages you send to support.
3. How we use information
- Provide accounts, login (including Google), paste hosting, browse, and dashboard features.
- Show public pastes in listings and search when you choose public visibility.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access; diagnose outages; improve reliability.
- Send service notices (security or product changes) when needed.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR apply, we process personal data to perform a contract with you, for legitimate interests (security, product improvement, fraud prevention), with consent (where required), or to meet legal obligations. Signing in or creating an account with the agreement checkbox records that you accept these Terms and this policy.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data with:
- Service providers -- hosting and infrastructure needed to run the site.
- Identity providers -- Google, solely to complete sign-in you request.
- The public -- content and metadata you mark public (and anyone with an unlisted link).
- Legal recipients -- when required by law, regulation, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.
6. Cookies and sessions
We use essential cookies and session storage for authentication, CSRF/OAuth state, and the Terms/Privacy agreement flag used at login and signup. Disabling essential cookies may prevent login and account features from working.
7. Pastes and visibility
Public pastes are designed to be found. Unlisted pastes are reachable by anyone with the URL. Private pastes are limited to your account, but operators and infrastructure may still process them to provide the service. Do not store passwords, keys, or other secrets in pastes unless you accept that risk.
8. Retention
We keep account and paste records for as long as your account is active and as needed for security and legal retention. You may request account closure; residual logs may remain for a limited period for fraud prevention and compliance.
9. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and access-controlled infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Use a unique password and protect your devices.
10. International transfers
Data may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms and contractual protections.
11. Your choices and rights
You can update account details in the dashboard and request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal data subject to legal exceptions. Contact [email protected]. If you reside in a region with local privacy laws (for example GDPR or CCPA), you may also have rights those laws provide.
12. Children's privacy
CodeShare is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data so we can delete it.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
